Bodrum Castle represents our historical and cultural wealth as one of the city’s iconic heritage sites. Construction of this magnificent structure began in 1402 and was completed in 1522. Reflecting the architectural mastery of the Knights of Rhodes, the castle has served various functions throughout history. The structure, which was converted into a residential area during the Greek rebellion period, later served as a prison. Despite the harsh conditions of World War I, the castle maintained its durability and today welcomes visitors as the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. Entry to the museum, which particularly nurtures young generations’ curiosity about history and archaeology, is subject to a fee.
