Lake Bafa, located within the borders of Muğla and Aydın provinces, is the lake with the largest water surface in the Aegean Region. Characterized by its freshwater ecosystem, the lake is among the region’s important tourist destinations. The lake, which is thought to have had marine characteristics approximately 2000 years ago, is currently subject to evaluations in terms of water quality parameters. Rehabilitation projects implemented over the past decade have enabled recreational use of the lake. However, various assessments regarding water activities are currently ongoing. There are numerous island formations within the lake ecosystem. These natural formations can be explored through organized boat tours.
