Located in the center of Bodrum, the Mausoleum Open Air Museum houses one of the world’s most valuable cultural heritage sites. This magnificent structure, whose construction began in 355 BC and is considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, offers a unique historical experience. Among the most striking elements of the complex are 36 elegant columns and an impressive pyramidal structure with 21 steps. The monumental tomb located atop the structure survived until the 13th century but was damaged by an earthquake, and its building stones were repurposed in the construction of Bodrum Castle. Visiting this unique historical site requires an entrance fee and can be explored in detail within an average of two hours.
